Cleaning Pots & Pans
Cleaning copper bottom pots and pans.
With the holidays approaching, I had cleaned our copper bottom pans in time for Thanksgiving. I was on quite the cleaning kick and wanted everything to look nice for our Thanksgiving guests, so I cleaned all of our copper bottom pans while I was at it. We have a gas stove and the heat darkens them with use. Not the end of the world and it obviously doesn’t change the actual use of the pans when they aren’t like-new shiny, but they look so much better all cleaned up, so I pulled them all out to clean them.
To clean these, I just grabbed my Bar Keepers Friend, some steel wool and a little bit of water.
See below for links to what I used for this and let me know in the comments below what you think! Thanks for stopping by!!
Magic Erasers
I am sure you already know but just in case you don’t…Magic Erasers are a life saver!! Whenever I can’t seem to get scuffs off of just about anything, Magic Erasers save the day. When my kids were younger, they had gotten into a box of miscellaneous markers and I didn’t realise at the time that there was a permanent marker in the box. Well, they found it and decided to draw Mommy some nice artwork on our white kitchen countertops. I tried literally every other cleaning product I owned and low and behold, Magic Erasers took it off! I have been an avid user of these magical little scubbies ever since (and my kids are now adults). Try them if you haven’t and prepare to be amazed!! There are many different options to choose from as well. I will link them as well.
Bar Keepers Friend
Another go to for me is Bar Keepers Friend. An old co-worker of mine is the one who showed me this fabulousness in a can. In my previous house, I had a white kitchen sink, and while it looked great once it was all cleaned up, but cleaning it was a chore until I was told about this great product. My pans, silverware and just about anything that touched by sink would mark it up and it was a pain to get the dark scuffs out. Granted, the previous owners of my previous house ruined the finish on this sink (and my bathtub) so the glossiness was gone and I am sure that didn’t help but NOTHING else would make that sink as clean as Bar Keepers Friend. I love this stuff and it is gentle and bleach free. If you haven’t tried it, you should!
